2nd hard drive not recognized in Dell PD01X docking station

Post by xjas »

Hey all,

I've just done a fresh install of Mint 13 LTS+XFCE on my Dell Latitude D430. It's been expanded with a PD01X docking station but I can only seem to use half the features in the dock? For example USB flash sticks and my USB mouse which are connected through the dock work normally, and it sees the second soundcard I have in the dock's PCI slot fine. On the other hand it can't see the 1TB hard drive in the media bay (it doesn't even show up in Hardinfo) and it doesn't route the onboard sound to the headphone jack in the docking station like it should. I haven't tried the serial/parallel/DVI ports because I don't have any hardware to test them with.

The laptop was docked the entire time during the install. Any suggestions on how I can get it up to full functionality? I really use of that hard drive!

(This machine dual boots Win XP where the dock works fine, as it always has.)

Thanks,
Jay

Okay, after fooling around with it I discovered if I physically pull the drive caddy out from the dock and insert it back in again, the system sees & mounts it fine (and it shows up in Hardinfo correctly) but nothing I seem to do will get the OS to recognize it at boot? I didn't mention it previously but the drive is NTFS and I'm running 64-bit Mint. The drive is SATA but is running via the IDE interface in the media bay (the drive caddy has a built-in converter.) Any ideas?
