Mint without the Linux?

I had a thought a few days ago and that is that we should name the the different flavors of LinuxMint more exciting names. Such as K-EnviroMint or eXciteMint this naming system may draw more attention.

Using different names on different editions makes branding kind of difficult. I find the name just fine like it is, and as Mint is starting to make an impact on the community, changing name now will be kind of foolish, since all branding done by now will be a waste of time.

I don't know if you've read the whole thread, but the discussion kinda died a few days ago...

Actually ubuntu has a cool name to me, Ubuntu sounds fluid and natural... I like it better then "windows" or "OSeckes"

Actually, technically speaking, Linux is *only* the kernel, GNU is nearly everything else ;)

MintOS.

I have to cast a vote there.

I *REALLY* like that. LOTS. It's sophisticated without being pretentious, and also solves the "Should we/shouldn't we include GNU (/Flash/Adobe/w32 codecs/Google Earth/Nvidia/ATI/everything else not GNU... ad nauseum...)" in the name.

Clem, I know you just got trademarked, but I think (just my opinion) that you should give this idea some thought, even if you ultimately reject it. MintOS just has that certain "something", you know?

That is just *never* going to happen.

The only case in which this would be of any interest is if 'Linux Mint' was already registered.
It wasn't. It is now. Period.
