2013 Debian Mate CPU intensive

Post by DaComboMan »

Not fond about posting this...

Didn't check on Live DVD prior to installation but this 2013 Debian Mate release is quite CPU intensive on my laptop.
Stays at around 98% !

The 'memory' in about link is relative to present use in Windows 7 .32 bit.

What's odd with this intensive CPU usage in LM Debian Mate is the fact that the fan doesn't turn on to cool the system down.
At least in Windows i can rely on that to tell me there's something going on. Usually because of Adobe Flash player.

What version of LMDE Mate are you running 32 or 64 bit? If it's the 32 bit try to install the PAE kernel, boot into that and see if that helps.
Also, did you check the system monitor in LMDE MATE 2013 RC to see what is using the CPU intensive? The more info the easier it is that members can help you to track the issue down.

Running .32 bit on Windows 7 .32 bit

Fearful of going any further as already burned or broke hard disk last year trying Debian...
