Mijau
I have Linux Mint 13.
I was looking for a solution to this problem in all winds, but I can't fint nothing usefull.
I would like to install TTF fonts, from my local HD. But for all users - as root (admin).
I tried commands from Mint 9, but this two commands not working.
1. ttmkfdir
2. mkfontdir
both executed in dir. where copied new fonts
First command not found in Mint 13.
Font Manager from Mint repo seems to install fonts, and show them as installed, but then LibreOffice shows none of them in fonts window. Also after restart Mint.
I am verrrrry

Re: Installing TTF fonts from local HD
For Libreoffice, you would have to set the fon directory (folder ) location or link to it
--you could just stick the fonts (ttf) in yoour hidden ( a dot file .fonts) in your /home directory: show hidden files under your file manager

- Just remember that a large list of fonts slows down a work processor in Linux as much as it would in windows
--and how many fonts does one really need ?

Re: Installing TTF fonts from local HD
Ihaha
I solved this priblem this way:
1. Install three fonts with Font-managaer (as user)
- installed fonts works
2. Move fresh installed fonts and files fonts.dir, fonts.scale from "/home/matic/.fonts/Library/w" to "/usr/share/fonts/truetype/w"
- after restart (for shure) still works. Tested in LibreOffice and InkScape.
I shall thanks to me for help to solve this problem

Could you please indicate where this "font manager" is located?

Font Manager..... font manager..... Aha, I found it. You have to install it first. Because font manager is not installed by default. After installation from repos, it is in Mint Menu, Graphic, Font Manager.
A little bit strange this. Why in group Graphic?
