Im desesperate need support urgent...

Hy all.
here is my problem, I installed linux mint 14 and was really happy very beautiful and everything the thing is, after some update i has to restart than once i restarted i just got my desktop with nothing really nothing no icons the start menu bar noothing, i search a little bit but found nothing how to fix that i tryed my best...
the thing is that i have important documents on my fresh installed system and once i finish installyng i said to my self is just linux i have nothing to fear so i deleted the documents from my usb key .. so no back up and I don-t really have a clue how to solve. now i-m booted on my system usb key with linux mint, i saw that my hard drive is mounted and have my filles there but i can-t copy to another usb key because it says i don-t have permission its kind of urgent because i-m booted on this usb key and my kezboard is in usa and i can-t write propelz at all

Hello so i'm on cinamon, but I actually just destroy everything and I am locking to not mistake again


Edit: ok I didn´t mistake after I install the updates and I restart i get a empty desktop nothing no icons no taskbar

Start linux from a DVD or USB key. In a terminal, type this:

gksu nemo

Navigate to your documents folder and copy the files to somewhere safe, such as another usb flash drive.
