Desktop not displaying

Post by Carfyd »

Hi can anyone help please. I'm using Mint 14, 32bit Mate
I tried to network a printer. Seemed OK, printer clicked and rattled, so I must have made some connection, but everything then froze completely, I had to shut it down with he power button. Now on restart, it only loads as far as the terminal, lets me log on, but no desktop, just sits there waiting for a command!!

Thanks.
Pete

Thanks for that. It works, but when I reboot, I have to do the same thing.
Can I save it so it just starts normally?
Thanks again

try this ( kde )
sudo restart kdm

(gnome)
sudo restart gdm

otherwise, use google to find out how to restore xserver
