AMD Graphic Issues

Postby maddtechwf on Thu Feb 28, 2013 7:57 pm

I'm very new to Linux and just installed Mint 14 last night. I have to say, I'm falling in love with it so far.

I have a dual monitor setup that I would like to use on my Mint box but I can't quite seem to get it to work. After installing the OS, I went to Display and turned Mirroring off and set the screen sizes that I wanted. After hitting Apply, my screens were all messed up. It appears that it's not using the correct NVidea graphics driver. Can anyone help me install this correctly so that I can use my dual monitors.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

please share with us the output of
Code: Select all
inxi -Sr

i can't find that card not even at nvidia's http://www.geforce.com/hardware what means (usually) problems for you  it must a very new, state of the art card and with just rudimentary support so far

furthermore tyou should (most certainly) have a dual gpu setup what makes it even worst (but not impossible i think)

Code: Select all
Graphics:  Card: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV370 5B60 [Radeon X300 (PCIE)] bus-ID: 01:00.0
           X.Org: 1.13.0 drivers: ati,radeon (unloaded: fbdev,vesa) Resolution: 1280x800@74.9hz, 1280x800@74.9hz
GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on ATI RV370 GLX Version: 2.1 Mesa 9.0.2 Direct Rendering: Yes
