Hi All,
Using Linux Mint 14 MATE 32bit, on a Dell Latitude Laptop D630, (yes old I know, and I am hoping this isn't the reason why) and occasionally the computer just goes into Power STANDBY Mode by itself.
I have disabled the screen-saver, confirmed in power management, that:
Put display in sleep mode is never ( on both AC power and battery)
Put computer to sleep mode when inactive is never ( on both AC power and battery)
Unticked dim display when idle
I set the display brightness to 50% ( to see if this helped ) no go
Removed the laptop battery and the problem still occurred. (in case it was the batter)
I have checked the MINT website and it claims the Hardware should work fine:

tail -f /var/log/syslog : this had nothing, related....
Here are the usb devices plugged into the laptop:

Here is Udev showing a problem that looks to be backlight / battery related.
(this is why I reduced the backlight brightness / removed the battery)

Re: Laptop Dell D630 Lattitude goes into Standby Power Mode
Ok in a fit of rage I moved all scripts under:
into /opt and checked all crontabs in case something was triggering this, however it's getting worse and worse I think I might have to accept my fait ... the system is on it's way out...
I will test by unplugging all USB devices, then will update the BIOS and see what happens...
Code: Select all
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/
