Nice review of the Steam statistics: http://www.webupd8.org/2013/03/steam-fe ... linux.html. Shows Linux users jumping from 1.12% of the total number of users in January, to 2.02% in February. Linux Mint also shows up in the figures, with 0.17% of the Steam users being on Linux Mint 14 64-bit. Hey, I've been counted
Hoping this will lead to further growth of interest from users and developers both for Linux.

Re: Steam statistics for February show Linux growth
Encouraging Been waiting for them to release their h/w survey. But frankly, I expected the numbers to be more, considering that TF2 , popular game, is free-to-play on steam. Which also means there is huge potential gap to be filled.

Re: Steam statistics for April
http://www.pcgamesn.com/windows-8-growi ... rely-moves - Apparently, not so great news. Would be more interested to know the revenues than just sample number of users who were part of h/w survey. Also, Distros diversity seem to be less than what it used to be.

Really Windows is a dog and Linux is a cat. Windows is big and dumb but almost anyone can train it to fetch their slippers. Linux on the other hand is intelligent and conceptually nicer but once you get over the soft fur you realise that if you try to make it do something it doesn't want to then unless you're a specialist cat trainer the net result will be a lot of scratches.
Re: Steam statistics for February show Linux growth
I though Steam for Linux was just for seeding the store with Linux games and giving the developers experience? The big jump and gamble is on the Steam Box later this year, which will be running Linux. Perhaps Valve will do something similar with Linux as Apple did with FreeBSD for their Steam Box (so it's there, you just don't see it unless you know it).
Re: Steam statistics for February show Linux growth
True. This is only a precursor / testbed for Gabe Cube which will be released by Steam. The numbers are indicative only of PC gaming.

Yes, not sure of the real name. It was the nomenclature used in the link shared earlier.xenopeek wrote:Gabe Station?anandrkris wrote:Gabe Cube
