[Solved] Mouse Cursor Disappears after Zoom in LMDE KDE

Postby Jesse654 on Sun Mar 03, 2013 10:32 pm

Since the "The unofficial LMDE KDE UP6" thread was locked, and since I hate to leave an issue unresolved, I found a solution to an issue I was having:

http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=121058&start=100#p692905
When using Zoom (Meta-+, Meta--, Meta-0), then going back to 100%, my mouse cursor disappears.
Work-around: Use Ctrl-Alt-Del to logout; the mouse cursor reappears; login.

This solved it:
Menu | System Settings | Desktop Effects | All Effects tab
Click on Zoom wrench icon to get Zoom dialog.
Check Enable Focus Tracking checkbox.
Click OK button.

(The other work-around was to disable, then re-enable desktop effects, which are toggled with Alt-Shift-F12.)

I'm glad you found a solution, but even happier you shared it with the community.
Thanks.

For anyone that would like to know which file is changed by this:
Code: Select all
~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc

Section:
Code: Select all
[Effect-Zoom]
EnableFocusTracking=true
EnableFollowFocus=true
MousePointer=0
MouseTracking=0
ZoomFactor=1.2

Thanks.

I'm glad to help where I can. :)

I'm guessing that this type of info may help anyone building an iso in the future.
