VLC media player : Purging vlc-data?

Postby erie88 on Tue Mar 05, 2013 1:13 am

I never use VLC so I thought of completely removing VLC from KDE. Have tried removing VLC via terminal with the "sudo apt-get purge vlc" but it only remove vlc and still leaving vlc-data. I thought I can safely remove or purge vlc-data too but am surprised to know that purging vlc-data will also removing "mint-meta-codecs-kde" and "mint-meta-kde". Shouldn't they make removing vlc-data as a seperate from KDE ?

Code: Select all
$ sudo apt-get purge vlc-data
[sudo] password for athlon :
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  libvlc5* libvlccore5* mint-meta-codecs-kde* mint-meta-kde*
  phonon-backend-vlc* vlc-data* vlc-nox* vlc-plugin-pulse*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 8 to remove and 14 not upgraded.
After this operation, 38.6 MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? n

Thanks.
