Internal Webcam not work

Post by alabanana »

(Linux Mint 14, Cinnamon 1.6.7, laptop: HP pavilion dv2000)

Hi,
I am trying to make my webcam work. Yesterday, I used cheese, blue light of the webcam was on, but the captured screeen was black. Today I tried it again, nothing happened, no light, black screen.

When booting, I notice there are repeating errors "unable to enumerate usb device on port 5".

How can I fix it???
Please help!!!

My webcam is connected and disconnected continuously. Sometimes it disappears from lsusb.
I have tested using Cheese, it showed that my webcam could work for a while until it was disconnected; then it could work again...

Hi, I have looked for your suggestion and many pages but still no result. I have disabled uvcvideo, but it remains problem that my webcam is kept recognize as USB, and is plugged in automatically by 2 usb hubs, then automatically disconnected. This repeats again and again...

Code: Select all

[41402.483755] usb 7-1: >USB disconnect, device number 62
[41402.612109] usb 2-5: >USB disconnect, device number 79
Now I need help on disabling 1 usb hub, or both of them try to connect my webcam..

Re: Internal Webcam not work

I was unsuccessful in using sudo command from terminal for installing "guvcview" in Linux Mint v 16 MATE. So instead searched and found "guvcview" from the "Synaptic Package Manager". Marked it for install, then click Apply and presto the HP DV2000 inbuilt camera works fine with a neat video and audio set up window.
Hope this helps someone else as I am a newbie to Linux and Mint v16.

..I had the HDD crash on this HPDV2000 laptop and decided to load Linux instead of yet another version of Windows...so pleased I did!
Also recommend Evolution for email rather than Thunderbird but its a personal thung I guess :D
