Double problem: first no sound

Post by Aielnathor »

Hello fellow Minters,

I've being struggeling to found a linux system where the sound system worked.
With some searching and quiet alot luck I got the sound on my desktop working with a fully updated
Linux mint 13 LTS Mate edition. So I install the same system on my laptop and here I can't get any sound
out of my speaker, one headphone jack works. In my sound preferences he reckonizes my audio card
Built-in Audio, analog stereo output.
I'm running on a dell alienware M17x3R laptop.
I hope someone can helping me fixing this, I've being running on Linux systems before
but I'm still quiet a newbie to any computer system.

Thanks in advance..

The solution at the bottom of this link might work. Otherwise, posting the output of the other commands listed in the thread might help others help.
