synaptic repositories

Postby Ballie on Mon Mar 11, 2013 5:43 am

When I try to upgrade anything I get the following error message:

Method fttp has died unexpectedly ! Sub-process fttp returned an error code (100)
Method /usr/lib/apt/methods/fttp did not start correctly.

When I look at that fttp location it is empty and has file type plain text document instead of being an executable !
How do I fix this ?

Are you certain the error says "fttp", and not http?

Besides that, do this in a terminal:

Code: Select all
sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.bak
sudo apt-get update

If that doesn't work, backup the files in /var/lib/apt/lists then delete all the files in the directory, followed by an apt-get update. Don't do this if the first part above fixes the issue.
