dark spots on clock tray using default cinnamon theme
I noticed that every minute, spots on the clock tray appear on different areas. I have attached some screenshots for you guys to see. Hope there is an explanation as to why this is happening and how to resolve it.

Yeah, I posted about this before but no one responded to me.
If you move the mouse over it then the dots disappear but they reappear soon.

It looks like there might be some widget hiding under the calendar. You might try editing the panel and removing widgets to see if you can get to it.
Cheers.

Let me rephrase that. You might try editing the panel and removing the calendar, show desktop, notification etc to see if you can get to it.cartoonkid12 wrote:I already thought of that, but i dont use any widgets.

i tried to remove applets and restored it to default. * same thing
Re: dark spots on clock tray using default cinnamon theme
Are we the only ones that see it then?
If we are then it must be something with our setup, if not then it must be something to do with the theme.
I haven't tried changing the theme yet though.

We are the only ones talkin' about it, i guess we are. hahahaha
it could be a theme issue, tried to use other themes and everything is ok. however, this is the default cinnamon theme, it should be resolved in the next coming updates. hopin' that other peepz could also look into this situation.

No.
I see it in Tout theme as well.
See the background behind "7" And now how it looks after mouseover

Re: dark spots on clock tray using default cinnamon theme
if the spots are not with linux mint itself. It could either be the theme or the applet. worst case is the panel.
Re: dark spots on clock tray using default cinnamon theme
I noticed it, too. On the time applet and also on the CPU and memory applets. The spots are the shadow characters from the previous values of the applets. For example, when the clock changes a minute from 0 to 1, the shadow of 0 can be still seen below 1.
Re: dark spots on clock tray using default cinnamon theme
seems like, it is a them issue. i am not an expert in programming but if someone out there who knows how to fix it. That would greatly appreciated by all who finds this very inconvenient.

I think it's the theme. Try this:
Cinnamon Settings > Panel > Allow Cinnamon to scale panel
Cinnamon Settings > Panel > Allow Cinnamon to scale panel

I figured it out, simply by looking. What you're seeing are shadows. I installed LMDE Cinnamon in a virtual machine, which has crappy video capabilities. It goes away when I choose a theme that doesn't have shadows behind the widgets.
Find better themes or get a better video card
Cheers.
