Ok, well I have been doing a bit of research on the subject and looking around the forums, I can see that some people have been having trouble getting this to work and I am unsure why.
The steps I took where these, very simply..
Download
libx264-120_0.120.2151+gita3f4407-2_i386.deb
from
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/libx264-120
Install that package as this is what Splashtop needs to run.
download splashtop here
http://www.splashtop.com/streamer/linux#download (Shove in any email if asked)
install, you now if you do not have one, need to create a splashtop account do this either on your mobile device or on the splashtop site
you are all done.
Spalshtop in Linux Mint 14 working flawlessly.

It's not as been looking at this program for controlling linux desktop and it supports windows also.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ote.pad.v2
Have to go to their website for the linux version tho as the install button assumes window user.
Another neat one for tablet is GfxTablet allows you to use your Android powered Tablet to act almost like real graphics tablet!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... GFibGV0Il0
And can use with Gimp 2.8.

Re: Spalshtop in Linux Mint 14 working flawlessly.
Hi,
I have a problem with splashtop 2. I installed de streamer in Mint 14 and logged onto my account. On my tablet I can't find my Mint Computer which is on the same WLAN.
I have read the following atatement:
"Client device may be not able to discover your computers without a network-manager package running alongside". I have network-manager installed in Mint but I not quite understand what is meant with this statement.
Does anyone how to solve this

Not sure if anyone is worried about this anymore since it hasnt been commented on in a year.
But i am running Linux Mint 17 and was trying to get splashtop to work and this post came up in a search. have to agree with the op on it being simple. however at least for me the lib that is linked in is not the one you need anymore.
it is now this
(2:0.123.2189+git35cf912-1ubuntu1.1) [universe]
from here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy-updates/libx264-123
and then install splashtop streamer from here:
http://www.splashtop.com/linux#download
i went with 12.10 32bit since i am running on a 32 bit machine.
Up and running with no problems to report.
