White box in the middle of the screen after opening office

Hi,

After opening any office program, I got a white box stuck in the middle of the screen! It's so annoying as it comes on top of any opened program hiding anything behind it! Any suggestions?

I get similar when any box flashes up and closes fast.
thought there was a bug report on it but I lost the link.
this is with amd HD7700 card.
have tried fglrx (and the -update) as well as the x.org but no luck.
it mostly happen when I am adding something to playonlinux though, doing a mdm restart works but is a PITA.
if anyone knows of a patch or something I would appreciate it.
