Issues with RT3290 PCIe Wireless

Hello everyone

I just installed Linux Mint 14 x86 with Cinnamon on a new hp pavilion g6 preinstalled with windows 8 and running a i5 cpu. I am not exactly a noob with linux, but I am not a pro either! The wireless card didn't work right out of the box. I ran

and found that the wireless card was a Ralink Corp Device 3290. After some research, I found this article: http://rricketts.com/installing-ralink- ... ntu-12-04/

After compiling the driver and installing it using those instructions (mint is an ubuntu derivative after all), I still haven't had any success.

I still cannot see my wireless device nor can iwconfig or mintwifi, per the information listed. Thanks in advance for the help
