Lenovo G580 - just cant get it to boot from CD

hi there,

new laptop arrived today and i've managed to trash it twice now when trying to get it to boot from the DVD!

i've been in the bios, disabled secure boot, set it to legacy, changed a few other settings along the same idea, set the CD as the top boot media and just cant get it to boot from any linux CD, mint 14.1, or ubuntu or fedora 18 (the latter two are supposed to work ok with UEFI.

anyway, even tried to install within windows and get linux mint to set up a boot loader, but i think that was the final straw for the machine.

at least dabs has a 7 day return policy so unless anyone has suggestions i'll stick it back in the box... problem is that if all laptops these days have this UEFI secure boot then am i just going to get this same issue over and over.

for info, i'm running mint now on an old macbook and didn't have any issues in installing that, or opensuse before it so while i'm not a computer expert, i can normaly get it to run from the disk.

any suggestions would be appreciated

panic over - played with virtually every bios setting and finally managed to get the one that lets CD come up in the boot options so you can pick it!

I am planning on buying this laptop but i need to know for sure its 100% working on linux mint preferable out of the box.

Can you please tell me if this is the case?
