no wireless extention DELL inspiron 6400

Postby rudecam on Sat Mar 30, 2013 12:09 pm

Hi,
I came upon an old Dell inspiron 6400 and installed linuxmint 14 MATE 32bit. It does not detect any wireless network.
I'm not sure, but i suspect that the wireless is not built in and that an external "card" (such as Sierra wireless aircard 580) is needed.

sudo /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintWifi/mintWifi.py

* V. querying DHCP...
Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8)
utility, e.g. service smbd reload

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an
Upstart job, you may also use the reload(8) utility, e.g. reload smbd
