Fast alternative to Pidgin?

Post by David1293 »

Hi, all
I've been using Mint for about four months now and am very impressed.
My problem is trying to find a fast alternative to Pidgin. I live some distance from most of my family, so exchanging photos is always a very pleasant way of keeping in touch as best I can- I know this is a known issue in Pidgin. I have tried Kopete, but it pulls in so much of KDE that the computer is noticeably slower, sometimes agonisingly so.
My configuration is as follows, if that helps:
AMD QUAD CORE FX-4170 4200MHz Bulldozer CPU
8GB DDR3 memory (2 x 4GB 1333MHz modules)
ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard
AMD 760G (780L)/SB710) chipset
Integrated ATI Radeon™ HD 3000 GPU with multi-VGA output support : HDMI/DVI/RGB
So far, I love Mint, but this is a problem for me. I would appreciate any help.
Regards
David

Re: Fast alternative to Pidgin? No answer?

Hi, all
Well, noone has answered so far. I have tried to search for an answer to this problem, but none of the pages I find seem to mention the disadvantages of each program.
I would really appreciate some help.

Hi, all
Many thanks for the replies.
I would prefer to use an IM client rather than a photo sharing site, as I prefer the spontaneity of the former.
I shall search the link you mentioned, Dr Hu- thanks
