Install of LMDE 201303 on Dell Mini10v grub error

Postby bra1n on Mon Apr 01, 2013 9:12 pm

Greetings,

After installing LMDE 201303 (32bit Cinnamon) on a Dell Mini10v and rebooting, it successfully boots from the hard disk the first time. I am typing this message from the Mini10v now. If I reboot the netbook, I receive a grub error and the grub recovery console. Details on the grub error will follow after I reboot to get them. Below are the details from an inxi:

The touchpad doesn't quite work right and the wireless driver needs to be updated but I believe I can fix that. Its the grub error on the second reboot that is puzzling me. Any help would be appreciated.

Actually the netbook is hung on restarting system. The 5 dots progress across the screen, and I can switch to a vty but not type anything. Forcinfg a shutdown and rebooting provides:

GRUB loading.
Welcome to GRUB!

error: unknown filesystem
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue>

Searches don't seem to present anything relevant to debian. The file system on /dev/sda1 was formatted ext4. /dev/sda2 was formatted swap and GRUB was installed on /dev/sda.

Again, any help would be appreciated!
