Has anyone tried to update yet? If so, how did you do it and how did it go?

Well, it seems to be out finally, though no official announcement has been posted yet. I guess that's because some of these packages are still only in Romeo (i.e. the unstable part of the repo).

It is apparently recommended to remove some packages from old Mate 1.4 in Synaptics : viewtopic.php?f=185&t=143547#p758001

So far so good for me with MATE 1.6 ... :)
