Install LMDE with separate boot partition

Postby catweazel on Wed Apr 03, 2013 4:09 pm

Hi, I need to install LMDE 201303 so that GrUB has its own boot partition. I've looked around on the community site and searched the forums but can't find a tutorial. Can anyone point me to a current tutorial or offer any guidance on setting up LMDE with a separate /boot partition, please?

FWIW, I want to get LMDE's root and home partitions loaded onto a hardware RAID device. The only way I can see that will work is if there is a /boot partition on another drive. I figure the trick is in configuring GrUB correctly, and this is where my knowledge opens into a huge black hole.

Thanks for reading.

PS: I've looked at the Debian installation instructions here but there's seemingly no end to it. I'm hoping someone can help me avoid having to read that Epic of Gilgamesh in full.
