Bad surprise....

Unfortunately, that is not really a surprise. The mintMenu isn't working with MATE 1.6 yet; it's being worked on for the Linux Mint 15 release, at which time Linux Mint will also get MATE 1.6. See also same experience of others here: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 6&t=130335. You are ahead of the crowd, so yes you might bump into things
