jDownloader does not install correctly

Post by simplex »

Hello,

I've tried to install jDownloader from

http://jdownloader.org/download/index

(the multi-OS-zip).

Well, I installed it under /opt, but when I started it, the GUI never came up. So I threw away everything.

What's left now are three unnecessary entries under Menu->Internet->jDownloader

How can I get rid of them, and what's the proper way to install jDownloader?

He he zerozero, I followed your advice with the .sh script. Now I have 6 menu entries "jDownloader" that all do not start up the program. :lol:

Doing an explicit java -jar JDownoader.jar lets the program end up with the ouput

Code: Select all

10 08.04.13 19:00:27 - FINER [jd.JDClassLoader(<init>)] -> Look and Feel JAR loaded: /opt/jdownload/libs/laf/syntheticaSilverMoon.jar
If I only could get rid of these menu entries and have a clean LMDE again...

Since mid-2012, there have been multiple complaints that JDownloader's installer installs adware without the user's consent.

Sounds like the next best thing to Microsoft Windows.
