how to remove XP from my LMDE dual boot
I have XP and LMDE on a IBM Thinkpad and want to remove XP. How can I safely remove XP. I don't want to have to reinstall LMDE, mine is running perfectly as it is. Just don't use XP anymore. Is there a way without losing my existing LMDE.

Here are my quick thoughts: Assuming that you are using 'GRUB' as your bootloader, you would run 'gparted' (as 'root' permission) to delete the partition that contains XP. Then you would run 'update-grub' to detect that the XP partition is no longer present, and should be removed from the boot options.lupgaru wrote:I have XP and LMDE on a IBM Thinkpad and want to remove XP. Let us know if it works out for you. Of course you must be very careful to delete the *right* partition or else you will regret your actionslupgaru wrote:Sounds easy enough, Ill give it a try. Thank You for the quick response.

It worked, studied up on using gparted first. That was the scary part. Did not want to mess up the partitions, then update grub was easy. Worked really well. Thanks for all the help!

Cool! Whenever I use tools like 'gparted', I am reminded of the words 'With great power comes great responsibility'. It is very easy to ruin one's day when using ultra-powerful tools like thatlupgaru wrote:It worked, studied up on using gparted first. That was the scary part.
