Hi all.
My problem:
When run linux first startup screen is ubuntu 12.04, then loaded console, requesting a login \ password, then error associated with the lack of / usr / bin / mint-fortune
I found one topic, removed from /etc/bash.bashrc the line /usr/bin/mint-fortune, then reboot. Error mint-fortune disappeared but i have only console. startx does not help - i have only black screen.

did you actually install Mint, or was it Ubuntu 12.04 ?.
Please edit your original post title to include [SOLVED] - when your problem is solved!

It would seem something went wrong with the install.
I would check the download and burn a new disk.
then reinstall and try again.

Hello.
Do you load Mint from http://www.linuxmint.com/? If load from other sites them may be defective.
Perhaps your DVD is not good .
Remember wait long as DVD eject from driver,then install ready.
You can test DVD on live beffore install it.Start from DVD and test all works.
I hope this can help.

Yes , It was Linux mint http://www.linuxmint.com/ and disk is normal becaus i used mint 2 day. I think this error may be from nvidia driver or from bad shutdown (last one). So, can i reinstall(restore) linux saving all setting and files? or only format disk and full reinstall?

Hi.
You can start with live DVD and copy your files with it for some other harddrive,usb stick .
When started with live,go to desktop icon COMPUTER,open it.You find all partitions of you computer.
Open systems/Home,there are files you save before.There are 2 place where you see systems as started with live DVD ,other is this right.Look both of them,if you can open them.
It can reinstall too for same place,but if something goes wrong ,your files are not in folders.
I'm using partition for SWAP 3,5G,partition / for system 19G,partition HOME 40G ,partition for files FREE hdd G.
This way i move files to FREE hdd G before reinstall new operating systems,don't need things like other hdd.
Note linux can also open the windows files.
