Compiz?

Post by crosenfi »

Is Compiz still being actively worked on? I loved it on Gnome 2 on Ubuntu. Now I'm running Mate on Mint 14 and I read that some things don't work anymore. Will Compiz live on with Mate?

Thanks,

-Carl

To all intents and purposes, compiz is a dead project.

You can get all the compiz effects and more by running KDE

I've always preferred Gnome to KDE, but that's good to know.

Thanks,

Like the Orbmiser, I used to say tha,t but I've got KDE looking just like Cinnamon, complete with a gnome icon set. I also used to believe it was slow and bloated. I was wrong one all counts and now it's my DE of choice.

Yep same as catweazel just toned down KDE to be more minimal gnome like desktop also.
Not trying to emulate gnome so much as more of adopting the philosophy of Gnome of Minimalism which I do endorse.

And like he mentions the old FUD about Resource or Ram,CPU Hog is just that FUD.
