"Cannot initiate the connection to mirror.tuxis.nl"

Hi,

There are errors when I update the package list. It seems aptitude cannot connect to certain mirror, "mirror.tuxis.nl". Sometimes I get asked to pick a mirror during package upgrades, I then pick the one to which I have the fastest connection. My /etc/apt/sources.list then gets updated. I have included my sources.list below.

How do I revert/change my sources.list to one that works?

mintupdate > edit > software sources > pick a different mirror for packages.linuxmint (that one apparently is non-functional)

also you have an error regarding a ppa;
some ppa added in sources.list.d?

Thanks for your reply. I have found a repository that works.

Sometimes I add ppa's without really knowing what that is or what it does. Often it says they are for Ubuntu and Mint, so I am not even sure they are OK for LMDE.

Anyway here's what's in sources.list.d:

if you really need external app you should look the ones for debian and not for mint/ubuntu (lmde is not compatible with ubuntu thus not compatible with mint-ubuntu-based)

here you have 2 kind of problems:
1- you have ppa's added: bad in itself because you can install an app that would ruin your system;
but interestingly:
2- the ppa url are wrong: because you are using a debian-based system the automated way you used to add the ppa made some wrong assumptions and added a debian section to the launchpad url (that does not exist)
in a wicked way, you can't update the system but at least are protected from breaking it :lol:

it's your option reviewing if you need them or if they are dispensable;
- if you need them edit the respective file and correct debian to one of the ubuntu releases that they support (hope you are aware of the risks)
- if you don't need them delete the respective files in sources.list.d/

I uninstalled tomahawk (that's all software from the two ppa's you mentioned). Tomahawk was working fine but I did not use it much. And I removed the the corresponding files from sources.list.d. No errors or warnings from aptitude any more. Thanks!
