Hey Guys,
I decided to make a rather spontaneous contribution to the community and made an Installation guide that help users to install Debian on their Windows 8 machine. I absolutely adore LMDE and felt like giving this experience to people who are not so computer-handy. It also includes a primer on what 'free software' is and why someone wants to run Linux.

Enjoy!
Best regards, Zameer

Nice write up. The pictures will definitely be helpful. Is there a way to resize the partitions from within Windows 8 though? I know using Gparted has caused issues in the previous versions of Windows.

On the version of Windows that is shipped with my computer, there's not any kind of disk utility, or any other way to edit disks.
I did come across this Nixie Pixel video, she explains how to do it on, presumably, more elaborate versions of Windows. It's at 2:20 mins:

I'm not sure whether I would want to recommend any third-party utilities, though.
