Mint 14 KDE (64bit) - CUPS issue with Brother 7820N

Post by alazok »

Hello All,

I am brand new to Linux and this board, just installed Mint 14 KDE and everything worked great. However, I can not install my 2 printers. (Brother 7820N and Dell 2130CN). Actually, I should correct my statement, I can install them but can't use them.

They both look like they installed correctly, however when I try to print they look like the printing has started but the printer just hangs and nothing happens. I went to CUPS and get this error message in the error log:

Code: Select all

E [18/May/2013:06:55:07 -0400] Unknown directive SystemGroup on line 3 of /etc/cups/cupsd.conf.
W [18/May/2013:06:55:08 -0400] CreateProfile failed: org.freedesktop.ColorManager.AlreadyExists:profile id 'Brother-MFC-7820N-Gray..' already exists
W [18/May/2013:06:55:08 -0400] CreateDevice failed: org.freedesktop.ColorManager.AlreadyExists:device id 'cups-Brother-MFC-7820N' already exists
I searched on google and this board, but could not find anything I can undersatnd and follow. It looks like this is either an issue with CUPS 1.6.1 or perhaps an issue with using a 64bit OS.

I would really appreciate some help!

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply, I uninstalled the 64bit version and replaced it with Mint 14 (32bit) and my printers work perfectly now.

Thank you so much for your reply though!
