Oh, yeah, Mint was forked from Edgy.
I have a question about that: is mint compatible with all the guides, packages and so on found for ubuntu, even if it was forked from Edgy? Does Mint include all of the updates found in ubuntu? And why do Mint still follow the ubuntu release cycle? Sorry if I'm going a bit off topic.

most guides packages etc work, but the "printing subsystem" in Daryna is the same as in Celena while Ubuntu changed between Feisty and Gutsy and there are other differences of this type apart from the Mint tools
Not all updates are included especially if you follow our advice and don't install level 4 and 5 updates in mintUpdate
We follow the Ubuntu update cycle simply because there is so much new with each release
