Windows Codecs for Wine?

Postby friedso on Thu Jun 06, 2013 11:23 pm

Hey, guys. New convert to Linux, using Mint 15 here.

I had to install Wine because I use Subtitle Workshop to work. Natively, it can't really play anything without codecs. The package I use on Windows, K-Lite Codec Pack, doesn't work on Wine, but I managed to install CCCP and get MP4 videos to play after some tinkering.

However, WMV videos refuse to play when using Subtitle Workshop. I'm thinking it's because there are no Windows codecs. The only one I found, Windows Media Encoder, doesn't work either. What can I do?

Oh, and I have tried Aegis, Gnome Subtitles and Subtitle Editor, but none of those worked for me in termos of file format and whatnot.

Thanks in advance.
