Strange Mouse/Keyboard Behaviour after Update

Postby jesterchen on Tue Jun 18, 2013 7:49 am

Hi folks,

I tried to search for my problem, but I have troubles to describe it myself - so I did not find anything.

I think an update on my friends notebook broke something. If she starts thunderbird, firefox, xterm (these are the ones I know of) there is a problem with the mouse: it does not send click events to these windows (or whatever - at least she cannot click anything, not even close the window). If libreoffice is started, everything works fine.

Somewhere googling around I have found similar problems with certain qt3 implementations, but I do not know, if this is an issue here.

The packages that were updated last before these things started to happen (as far as we can tell) are:
Code: Select all
Start-Date: 2013-06-13  23:57:51
Install: python-pyinotify:amd64 (0.9.3-1.1, automatic), cinnamon-common:amd64 (1.8.8+lmde, automatic), gir1.2-webkit-3.0:amd64 (1.8.1-3.3, automatic), gir1.2-javascriptcoregtk-3.0:amd64 (1.8.1-3.3, automatic)
Upgrade: cinnamon:amd64 (1.6.7+lmde, 1.8.8+lmde), nemo:amd64 (1.1.2+lmde, 1.8.3+lmde), gir1.2-muffin-3.0:amd64 (1.1.2+lmde, 1.8.2+lmde), libnemo-extension1:amd64 (1.1.2+lmde, 1.8.3+lmde), libmuffin0:amd64 (1.1.2+lmde, 1.8.2+lmde), mdm:amd64 (1.0.8+lmde, 1.2.5+lmde), muffin-common:amd64 (1.1.2+lmde, 1.8.2+lmde), mint-mdm-themes:amd64 (1.0.7, 1.1.0), mint-flashplugin-11:amd64 (11.0.d1.98, 11.2.202.280), nemo-data:amd64 (1.1.2+lmde, 1.8.3+lmde)
End-Date: 2013-06-13  23:58:32

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Can anyone give me hints on how to solve this (or else she might get even more crazy on me!)?
I will be close to that notebook in a couple of hours again, so please don't rush with commands I should type! :)

The system was installed about a month ago with the thattime current LDME-image.

Many thanks in advance.
