I'm using Mint 13 with Cinammon and Gnome3 available
When I run a Java program on Cinnamon, the mouse pointer is in the wrong place - it is in a different place to where its action happens, and it doesn't work on pull-down menus, possibly for the same reason.
If I select Gnome3 at login it works perfectly.

Re: Mint 13/Cinnamon Java mouse pointer problem
I can confirm that this is not fixed with Mint 14. I have tried with cinnamon and mate, downgrading to older openjdk, etc. I also tried latest oracle version, but bug still persists. It only happens when program is full screen, and only working solution is to position the window to upper left corner before maximizing. Only java-software i use is SPSS 21, but i think its highly unlikely that this would suddenly be an SPSS-only problem.
Using PSPP is not an option, because it's missing exactly 100% of the functionality i need in my studies.
Any idea how to get java behaving correctly? I'm using 64-bit Mint 14.

Re: Mint 13/Cinnamon Java mouse pointer problem
I'm sorry if I caused any confusion by saying it was fixed in 14, I had done quite a lot of different things to my system, one of which might have fixed it! I have just re-installed Mint 14 to sort out some other problems and the mouse pointer problem is back. I have tried the jre1.7.0_21 and java-7-openjdk-i386 versions of Java and that doesn't make any difference. I don't think it can be the Java program I am using (DIYLC) as this is a completely different sort of application to what you are using.jonzax wrote:this is not fixed with Mint 14
I agree, and thanks for the tip.jonzax wrote:working solution is to position the window to upper left corner before maximizing.

It's been discussed here http://forums.mate-desktop.org/viewtopi ... 5633#p5633
and bug reports are here https://github.com/linuxmint/muffin/pull/11 and here https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-wi ... t-16492713
So the problem is well understood, it hasn't been fixed though.
Re: Mint 13/Cinnamon Java mouse pointer problem
From GitHub "..it happens because Java can't detect Window Manager name..." it's a problem whichever Java you use.
There is plenty of discussion about who should do what but no action, everyone seems to be passing the buck. The reality is that works in the other distributions I have used but not Mint!
