Virgin Mobile OverdrivePRO47D and Linux Mint 14 Nadia

Post by scintillate »

I just got a Virgin Mobile OverdrivePRO47D for my Samsung Series 9 with Linux Mint 14 Nadia 64bit.

I have talked to customer service and got no where(we were at it for an hour). I went to the store for support but they said the problem was not with the device but with Linux and that they didn't know what to do and that I should get Linux Support. They also said I should use/install windows instead.... no. just no.

Hence why I am here.

It connects and it never gives me a notification that it disconnects it has always stayed connected (well looks connected). BUT it works for (mostly) 30seconds then says server not connected(in the browser but never does it actually disconnect or have a notification). Then at times it works (like now) for about 30 mins then just stops. But the signal is strong and my phone works on it perfectly fine all the time, no no problems and the latop at the store worked on it so I am guessing it is not the mobile device. My laptop has no problems with other wireless devices as I go to the library and use the wifi there and have never had a problem. So it must be something between these two devices and I just don't know what. Customer serivce told me not to connect the virgin mobile device to the usb port because that could make it worse? I have tried to call someone on Skype usin the laptop and it cuts out but when I use my phone we talked fo 54 mins no problem.

I have a few other issues with Mint that are different but I do not know if they are related. My mic does not work (but it did on Ubuntu and and onlder version of Mint) and my sound for headphones gets a bit weird with th balance. It is in the middle but it is not stereo but it will be in stereo if I move the bar all the way to the left or right if I take it out I lose all sound and have to restart.

I would greatly appreciate and help or advice.
