How to configure the HP LaserJet P1006 (and I think all HPs)

1. $ wget -O foo2zjs.tar.gz http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/foo2zjs.tar.gz
$ tar zxf foo2zjs.tar.gz
$ cd foo2zjs
2. $ make
3. ./getweb P1006 (for others models http://foo2xqx.rkkda.com/INSTALL)
4.sudo make install install-hotplug
5.Power down and up the printer.
6. sudo usb_printerid /dev/usb/lp0

At this moment, didin't work for me, but i found this additional steps

1. sudo apt-get install hplip
2. sudo hp-setup -i

That's it.

hplip GUI, at least for me didin't solve anything.

when I opened a terminal and pasted the first line, I'm asked for a password, but my password wont appear as typed, nothing appears, and I can't then paste the second line.

can you help? my password is numerical

this p1006 from hp is recognized by mint but won't print anything.

Don't worry, in the terminal, your password is never showed, just type it, and press the enter key.

this seems like a simple thing to do, but i've been searching the web for solution and this was the first one that actually worked.
