Cannot Enable Broadcom BCM4306 Rev3 WiFi

Post by CentaurHauler »

I have an eMachines M6805 with the Broadcom BCM4306 Rev3 WiFi card, and I cannot enable it under Mint 4.0 KDE (I couldn't under Fedora8 either). This is a dual boot system with WinXP, and it works there. I see the card in KInfoCenter, so the system knows it is there. I suspect that there may be an interaction with the BIOS, as the radio LED does not come on as it does in WinXP - in other words, I don't think it is a problem with network configuration, password, SSID, etc., but rather that the radio is not enabled. I'd appreciate any suggestions!

The bcm43xx are infamous for their problems - and they don't work in win either many times (not for you though)
Have you tried the wiki, it helps a lot of people
