after upgrade NO LOGIN !

Mint, offered me upgrade.
I said yes, and Mint started do download.........
800MB...
very long time...
some of the files were not downloaded...errors...etc...
now I can not login...
i put user name, than password, enter...
he returns to same screen, and asks for username...

what to do ???

In what way did Mint offer you an upgrade? And from what to what did it offer to upgrade?

Were you using the Mint update or some other method? Have you changed the default repositories?

800 mb? When you update Mint KDE for the first time after installation, the amount of transference is approximately 400Mb.. There aren't another 400mb of updates...

in Adept I was offered UPGRADE.
I click on it.
Mint was doing something...new window open...change repositories...bla, bla...
freeses !!!

I closed that window...
force quit !

after that, Adept was downloading 800 MB for update, and did not succeded.
not all files were downloaded.
errors etc...

now I can not login...

...it sounds like a KDE upgrade that went wrong.
Press: Ctrl + Alt + F1and try to login, if that works run:

apt update -f

and

Code: Select all

apt upgrade -f

from a tty?
That might do the trick.

I did the fresh install.
it is ok.
I tried upgrade again, and after a while I get the message:
You do not have Ubuntu desktop, Kubuntu desktop, XFCE desktop...etc.
Please install one of them so I can continue with upgrade...

You should only update with mintUpdae, that's what it's for!
And whatever you do, DON'T check the box "Dist upgrade"
