Batch rename files

Post by tmallafre »

Hi,
I would like to aid a Windows user with this:

He has a lot of photos on diferent folders; he would rename the photos on every folder adding a given incremental number at the start of the filename, i.e:

IMG_000223.jpg => 04770-IMG_000223.jpg, 04771-IMG_000224.jpg...

and the order of that given number should be the same order as the photos in the folder was taken (not ever the filename or the time of last modification of the file haves the same order)

Did you know some workaround for do this, don't mind commanline or GUI program, in Linux?

Sorry for my english and thanks in advance :D
