How do I set a static IP address on Linux Mint maya 13?

Linux Mint/Panel/right click Wired network connection/Edit Connections.../Network Connections: Wired: Edit.../Editing Wired connection1: IPv4 Settings/Addresses: Add/Address: 192.168.1.xxx/Netmask: 255.255.255.0/Gateway: 192.168.1.xxx/DNS servers: 8.8.8.8/Search domains: 8.8.8.8/Save.../Terminal: ifconfig to confirm.

Numbered:
1. Linux Mint
2. Panel
3. right click Wired network connection
4. Edit Connections...
5. Network Connections: Wired: Edit...
6. Editing Wired connection1: IPv4 Settings/Addresses: Add/Address: 192.168.1.xxx/Netmask: 255.255.255.0/Gateway: 192.168.1.xxx/DNS servers: 8.8.8.8/Search domains: 8.8.8.8
7. Save...
8. Terminal: ifconfig to confirm.

unfortunatelly, when I did edit the ip address to manual, save button can not be clicked. there ceckbox available to all users become transparent, and can not be unchecked

is there something wrong?

Step 6: Switch it to manual (not Automatic) and put in a static 192.168... address.
See if that works?

Thank you. I tried this, but still no luck. I cannot figure out why the "save" button is greyed out. I've tried every configuration I can think of.

You have to disconnect your connection first so that the save button will be activated
