Mint Backup broken?

Post by justinl61111 »

Hello, I have just installed Mint 15 Mate 32 bit, and everything is going well, but the backup tool appears to be broken.
I select the directories, click forward, and nothing is listed to be backed up or excluded.. I waited for a long time, and figured just this part might be broken so I click forward again.
The tool says it's calculating for a while until it freezes.
Anyone else have this issue, or a fix? Alternative backup program?

Thanks in advance.

I am having a similar issue with Mint 14 MATE (32 bit). I get this error message when I run the update manager:

An error occured:
ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_quantal_main_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

I don't know if it's a related problem, but this has been happening for at least 3 days now. I'm a newbie, and I don't know how to fix it manually. Are these occurences related?

I found a program called 'luckyBackup' that seems to have worked.
