Running in software rendering mode?

Post by gael33 »

I've upgraded from LM14 Cinnamon (64bit) to LM15 Cinnamon (64bit) and when I boot up I have a message on the screen saying, "Running in software rendering mode".
My computer is exactly the same as it was before the upgrade, so what could be the cause of this message, and importantly, how do I fix it?
The whole message says, " Cinnamon is currently running without video hardware acceleration and, as a result, you may observe much higher than normal CPU usage.
There could be a problem with your drivers or some other issue. For the best experience, it is recommended that you only use this mode for troubleshooting purposes."

Oddly, there appears to be no increase in CPU activity, and everything seems to be in good working order.
I am puzzled by this ...

Thanks, gael.
