Is there a QR 2D area barcode maker available?
I noted Zint, at http://sourceforge.net/projects/zint/ but am not sure if this is okay to install, given that its homepage doesn't seem to be functional, http://www.zint.org.uk/

Added ppa:david4dev/qr and now I have a QR barcode creator that produces a PNG
Re: QR barcode maker?
It's Linux -- everything can be done from the command line. To encode string data in a QR code just use qrencode. It is available right from the Mint's package repository, offers a PNG output and has a handful of useful options. I have already used it to encode URLs to be scanned with mobile phones and it worked perfectly. Try it!
