Thanks, I tried some of the suggestions from that but nothing helped. Here is a bit more info:

mint15@mint15-Inspiron-1501 ~ $ lspci -vnn -d 14e4:

Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 18
Memory at c0200000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable)
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: b43-pci-bridge

08:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX [14e4:170c] (rev 02)
Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:01f5]
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 64, IRQ 21
Memory at c0300000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable)

This looks like Mint 15 may not be able to work with the wifi card. Any help??

Please install firmware-b43-installer from the repository / Software Manager. You need an internet connection for that, you can for example connect to wired internet to install this package.

Thanks, I had tried that. Rebooted, didn't work, so I uninstalled it. But since you suggested it, I reinstalled, rebooted, but unfortunately, still doesn't work.

Should I leave it on and try something else?

thanks for your efforts to help!!!!

Please don't just uninstall it when it doesn't work. Please leave firmware-b43-installer installed. When you reboot after installation, what do you see if you click the network icon in the tray?

Wifi networks is grayed out and can't be selected. When I first turn it on, a popup at the top says wifi disconnected.

I decided to check whether it was blocked and it was. Ran rfkill list all and saw the block. Hit my fn/F2 and then tried again and can get on!!!

Thanks, you were right. That fixed it.

I appreciate you staying with me on this!!

If you think your problem is solved please edit the first post to add [SOLVED] to the topic title.

If you still get hard or soft blocks in rfkill all the time, please post the output of rfkill list (when it's blocked) to this topic, and post your laptop model.
