[SOLVED] Lost File/Edit etc Menu Bar in all windows

I was adjusting some settings a few days ago and somehow managed to lose the File/Edit etc menu that appears at the top of each window (see screenshot). I have looked everywhere I can think of, including Cinnamon settings, but I cant work out how to get the window menu back.

LM Mint 14, Cinnamon 1.8.8

Try: Ctrl+M

Thanks for the reply. I tried Crtl + M, but nothing happened.

With nemo closed

Open a terminal and do

Code: Select all

mv .config/nemo .config/OLD-nemo

Now try nemo

Did killall nemo, then your command then alt-F2 to restart nemo, but no change unfortunately.
In a way, I am a little relieved that there is no quick answer, because I was convinced I was missing something obvious.

If you create a new user and login with it
I assume all is normal

Yes, I setup up a guest account and everyting looks normal - see screenshot.

I stumbled on the solution. The menu appears and disappears with the alt key.
