help please my new dongle wont work

I have had to move my computer , now it is not feasible to hot wire it to the router, as its an 802-11n router i purchased a TP_LINK TL-WN821n-300, the mint 14 recognises the dongle but will not hold a signal, wither it just drops out completely and i have to re boot [usually loosing what i have typed] or it will keep asking for the authorisation code..any suggestions?

Continuous ping may helps. An example:

I was having a similar problem with my Edimax ew7811un nano dongle under Mint 14....

this for a Realtek chipset, but most likely will work for you if you get the driver
from the manufacturer's site for your chipset...
