Wine Install - Software Manager Freezes

Post by ryntak »

I'm a newbie to linux. I'm trying to install wine through software manager, and it 'freezes'. I open SM and search for 'wine'. I dbl click on the first option, and I get the linx equivalent of the 'hourglass', and nothing happens after that. It just stays that way. I can close the software manager, with no problems.

Also, I can open the manager, and open/install other types of software, so it seems 'wine' specific.

I've tried installing it through the terminal, as well., using sudo apt-get install wine1.5
I get this error:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

Any help is appreciated!

Me too.

Have tried downloading from the WineHQ page but alas. I've been trying for about a week to download wine but no joy. Also it's not only the main Wine but also wine 1.4. :?

I think this is happening to me, too. I'd like to try to use Wine to see if I can play League of Legends, because that would be icing on the cake.

Try running:

sudo apt-get -f install wine

sudo apt-get install wine --fix-missing
