Installed Linux mint 15 RC with an CRT monitor as primary display. Now, i replaced it with a LCD tv. (via HDMI). I dont think that the fact that it's a "TV" should cause any problems...
Native resolution : 1366x768 at 60Hz.
I am getting 1360x768 atm at 60Hz. If any1 knows how i can get 1366 instead of 1360 would be great, although it works fine this way too (3 lines of pixels on each side are plain black).
But the big problem is that I am getting tearing on it. not that horrible (when i tried fedora it was awful) , but makes watching a movie or playing a game annoying.
So, linux mint 15 rc cinnamon x64, with nvidia gt 240, and the 319.17 nvidia drivers.
Set in the nvidia x server setting to " sync to vblank". Hadnt found anything else abut vsynk anywhere else.

Re: Tearing (Linux Mint 15 with Nvidia)
add
CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-clipped-redraws:disable-culling
CLUTTER_VBLANK=True
to
/etc/environment
looks like the option nvidia gives u doesnt really work.

Sorry to bump this thread, but godsotherhand's solution worked like a charm. God's other hand indeed.
I've been looking for a solution for quite a few days now. Exchanged my ATI card for an Nvidia, thinking it will actually work better with Linux and it was the exact opposite.

thats an important distinction. I tired the same and also got worse results. using both closed and open driversbornlivedie wrote: Exchanged my ATI card for an Nvidia, thinking it will actually work better with Linux and it was the exact opposite.

Many thanks, godsotherhand, for the solution.
I've been trying to fix this for centuries.
